May half term events
Paper Bug Hunt
Running all week from Saturday 24 May until Saturday 31 May. Drop in anytime from 10am until 4pm.
This May half term, we need young scientists and curious explorers to help us on a very important mission…
Six rare paper bug specimens have escaped and are now hiding throughout the library! Each one is handcrafted from upcycled picture books and waiting to be discovered by a sharp-eyed collector like you.
Think like a scientist, hunt like an explorer, and don’t forget to check every nook and cranny of the library. These bugs are sneaky!
Find all 6 and collect a special sticker!
This is a free activity.
Kids coding session with Scratch
Saturday 24 May from 3pm until 4pm.
Join us for a fun Children's Coding Session using Scratch!
Get hands-on with Scratch, learn the basics of coding, and create your very own mini-game! No prior experience needed, just bring your imagination and a sense of adventure.
Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out on this coding fun!
Tickets are £4 per child. Perfect for beginners aged 7 to 10 years old.

Hedgehog book folding craft
- Tuesday 27 May drop in from 10am until 4pm
- Friday 30 May drop in from 10am until 4pm
Make an adorable hedgehog from a recycled paperback to take home! All proceeds go towards funding your local library service.
Can’t make it to the event? you can buy a kit for only £2 and fold it at home. Ask a member of staff for details.
Tickets are £2 per child.
Lego club
Wednesday 28 May from 10am until 4pm.
For children aged 5 years old and over (Duplo is available for younger siblings).
A note to parents and guardians: While your child creates in the Lego room, you must stay on the library premises. Please take this time to browse our books and enjoy a peaceful moment in the library.
Tickets are £1 per child. No need to book, just drop in.
Paper 'wall bug' craft
Thursday 29 May, drop-in from 10am until 4pm.
Join us for a fun and creative craft session where kids can make their very own paper “Wall Bugs”, colourful insect specimens made from old picture books, perfect for decorating their walls!
Tickets are £2 per child. All materials provided.
No need to book: just drop in and create something buggy and beautiful!
Chalk mark making for National Writing Day
Wednesday 25 June. Drop-in: from 10.45am to 12 noon.
Come and enjoy some chalk mark making outside the library. Inspired by the book ‘Stanley’s Stick’
Event suitable for children aged 4 and under.

Digital support coffee morning
Tuesday 8 July, from 10.30am.
Whether you are puzzled by passwords, new to email, or want to explore social media safely, our Digital Coffee Morning is the perfect place to start. Pop in for a cuppa, meet our friendly Digital Support volunteers, and find out how we can help you build confidence with your devices.

Summer Reading Challenge
Haslemere Library are holding the following events to support this year's Summer Reading Challenge.
Hide and seek treasure hunt
From Saturday 5 July to Saturday 12 September. This is a free, all day drop in activity, from 10am to 4pm.
The Story Gardeners are playing hide and seek in the library. Next time you are in the library, see if you can find them all.
Collect an activity sheet from the Help Desk and find them all to claim your free sticker!
Don't forget to sign up to the Summer Reading Challenge while you are in the library.
Stickman storytime
Kick off the Summer Reading Challenge with a Story Garden adventure!
This fun and creative session is a great way to dive into this year’s Summer Reading Challenge Theme: Story Garden.
- Saturday 5 July, from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
- Event will be repeated on Thursday 14 August, from 11am to12 noon.
We will read the beloved tale “Stickman” by Julia Donaldson, then get crafty making your very own Stick Person to take home!
Perfect for children aged 3 to 8.
Cost: £1 per child.
No booking required. We will out tickets at the door on the day. First come, first served!
Paper sun catcher craft
Drop in: from 10am to 4pm on:

Brighten up your windows with a colourful creation inspired by this year’s Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge.
Cost: £2 per child.
We will have everything you need to make your very own paper sun catcher in a range of fun, nature-inspired shapes – perfect to take home and pop in the window!
No need to book – just drop in and get crafty.
Yarn bug craft
We will be making cute little bugs using yarn, toilet rolls and googly eyes – perfect to take home and add to your own garden of stories!

Buzz into creativity this summer with our adorable Yarn Bugs Craft sessions – part of this year’s Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge!
Cost: £1.50 per child.
Nature mobile craft:
Join us for our Nature Mobiles Craft sessions as part of the Summer Reading Challenge: Story Garden.
We will be creating beautiful mobiles using natural materials like leaves, flowers and twigs – perfect to take home and hang in your window or garden!
No need to book, just drop in and get creative, anytime from 10am to 4pm on:

Story stones and creative writing
From 10.30am to 12 noon on:

Join us at Haslemere Library for a magical Summer Reading Challenge event inspired by this year’s “Story Garden” theme!
Get creative painting your own story stones (up to 5 per child). Use them to spark your imagination and craft your very own short story

Paper jar bug craft event
Transform old picture books into adorable little critters at our Paper Jar Bugs workshop! Perfect for budding gardeners and craft lovers alike. Your little ones will create cute recycled bugs and take them home in their very own jar - a perfect addition to any story garden!

Green fingers craft
Join us for a fun and hands-on Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) themed craft where children can make a cardboard hand with moving fingers to take home!

One Saturday a month from 11.10am until 11.50am. Please check with the branch for the next session date.

LEGO club
Every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
This is the perfect way to get creative and build amazing things.
All our LEGO has been kindly donated or rehomed, making this a fun and eco-friendly way to play and learn.
For children aged 5 years and over.
Cost: £1 per child. Tickets will be available at the Help Desk on the day.

Stay and play baby and toddler group
Join us every Friday morning from 10am to 11am for a fun and relaxed baby and toddler group for ages 0 to 3.
What to Expect:
- A welcoming space for little ones to play, explore, and socialize.
- Free tea and coffee for parents and carers.
- A chance to connect with other families in the community.
This is a free, drop-in group, no need to book, just come along and enjoy some quality time with your little one! We cannot wait to see you and your tiny tots.
Sketch club
Second Friday of every month, from 2pm to 3pm.
Come for a relaxing afternoon of doodling, sketching, and creativity. Bring your favourite drawing materials and let your imagination take the lead. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just enjoy a good doodle, Sketch Club is the perfect place to connect with fellow creatives and share your passion.
No need to book or pay, just drop in, draw, and enjoy! Free tea and coffee provided.

Coffee morning
First Saturday of each month from 10am to 11.30am. The last session will be 3 May, coffee mornings will return in the autumn.
Join us for a relaxed and friendly coffee morning. Come along for a chat, a cuppa, and some good company. Free tea, coffee, and banter are guaranteed (there might even be biscuits!).
No need to book, just drop in and enjoy the morning with us!

Meet and Make
Last Saturday of every month from 10am to 12 noon.
Looking for a fun, creative space to get crafty? Meet and Make is the perfect place to spark your imagination, meet friendly faces, and try something new, no experience required!
Whether you're an experienced crafter or brand-new to making, Meet and Make is for everyone! Bring along a project you're working on: knitting, crochet, embroidery, darning, or anything else, and enjoy some relaxed conversation while you create.
No project? No problem! We have tools and materials ready for you to explore, including embroidery hoops, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and more. It's the perfect opportunity to try out a new craft or learn a skill in a fun and supportive environment.
Our group is all about sharing ideas, inspiring each other, and making creativity accessible to all. Beginners are especially welcome, our friendly members love helping others get started.
Drop in, get creative, and make something wonderful with us. Free tea, coffee and banter provided!
