Help keep your loved ones safe
Do you have a loved one, neighbour, or someone who may need extra support, such as an older person or someone with a disability? Ensuring their home is fire-safe could make a world of difference.
ßÙßÇÂþ» Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) offer Safe and Well visits. This is a free, personalised service where our friendly team provide tailored fire safety advice in people's homes. Where needed, we will fit essential safety equipment for free.
You can start by using the online Home Fire Safety Checker, a simple tool that identifies fire risks in the home. It only takes a few minutes to complete. If further support is needed, we will get in touch to arrange a Safe and Well visit.
What happens during a safe and well visit
SFRS will visit the home, have a friendly chat, and assess any potential fire hazards. We'll offer practical advice tailored to the person's specific needs. If necessary, we can also provide free safety equipment such as:
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Fire-retardant throws and bedding
- Electric blankets
- Thermal socks
- Hard of hearing alarms
- Fuel vouchers
SFRS also work closely with local partners to ensure residents can access additional support. This includes adult social care, telecare services and priority services.
