Young people in ßÙßÇÂþ» pilot innovative accessible travel app
Young people in ßÙßÇÂþ» are helping shape the future of accessible travel. Accept, Teach, Listen, Access, Support (ATLAS), ßÙßÇÂþ» Youth Voice's group for young people with additional needs and disabilities, recently took part in a pilot to test .
Aubin is a free journey-planning app created for neurodivergent travellers.
Unlike traditional travel apps that focus on speed and efficiency, Aubin prioritises personalisation and accessibility. Its unique features aim to reduce stress, boost confidence, and make public transport more inclusive. From tailored routes to supportive tools, Aubin helps travellers feel prepared and empowered.
Putting the app to the test
Over three days in late summer, members travelled across North, East, and West ßÙßÇÂþ» using Aubin to plan and navigate their journeys. They explored the app’s innovative features and assessed how it could support independence and reduce anxiety for neurodivergent young people.
Watch the video below to follow their travels and see the app in action.
The results
Unlike traditional travel apps, which focus on the fastest route, Aubin offers personalised journeys to:
- reduce stress
- build confidence
- make public transport more accessible
After the pilot, ATLAS met with Aubin’s co-founder and product manager. The group suggested improvements like:
- journey-sharing options
- communication prompts
- a journey checklist
The pilot earned Aubin the ATLAS seal of approval. ATLAS are excited to promote the app to other neurodivergent young people in ßÙßÇÂþ». To download for free, visit your app store.
