Public bridleway and footpath number 270 (Bramley) diversion application

Proposed diversion of Public Bridleway and Footpath 270 (Bramley)
Borough of Waverley
Section 119 Highways Act 1980

ßÙßÇÂþ» has received an application from the Wey and Arun Canal Trust to divert part of public bridleway and footpath no. 270 (Bramley) as shown on the accompanying plan no.: 3/1/2/H20.

The diversion has been applied for to enable the trust to restore the Wey and Arun Canal, which crosses the path at a right angle. In order to do this, the trust proposes to construct a new bridge for bridleway and farm traffic close to the existing path and divert the bridleway over that new bridge.

The existing bridleway runs east into the centre of the field then turns north towards footbridge, as shown between points A-B-C on the plan. The proposed diversion route would head east over the new bridge, then turn north towards the field edge before turning northeast and continuing roughly parallel to the field edge and finally north to the footbridge (A-D-E-C). The diverted bridleway would have a crushed stone surface between points A-D and a grass surface between points D-E-C. The landowner intends to install fencing along the southern boundary of the bridleway.

The existing footpath runs northeast parallel to the field edge to the footbridge (A-D-C). The proposed diversion would follow the diverted bridleway to point D, then run northeast along the defined path at the field edge to the footbridge (A-D-F-C). The diverted footpath would have a grass surface. The landowner intends to install fencing along the northern boundary of the footpath.
