On Wednesday 3 December 2025, we will be hosting the fourth ßÙßÇÂþ»­-wide recognition awards at G Live, located in Guildford.

The Stars in ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Awards:

  • Recognises ßÙßÇÂþ»­ staff and teams, residents, organisations, volunteers and charities within ßÙßÇÂþ»­'s communities who go over and beyond, in their daily lives to make a positive difference to others
  • Aims to boost morale and show thanks for the work our people within the organisation and outside in the community do
  • Increases the sense of community
  • Celebrates ßÙßÇÂþ»­'s diversity, and our status as an inclusive employer

Award categories

  • This award celebrates teams that work together well, enabling all team members to have the opportunity to contribute to achieve the best possible results.
  • This team should exemplify the ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Way by being ambitious, collaborative, inclusive, and dynamic in everything they do.
  • Their collaborative and inclusive approach personifies our commitment to working as One Council, to ensure the best outcomes for stakeholders.
  • The award seeks to recognise those teams who go above and beyond in looking to advance the way we work, enabling us to be fit for the future.
  • The nominees in this category have actively sought out creative ideas while introducing new ways of working and/or transforming service delivery.

  • This award seeks to recognise individuals who promote inclusion and fairness in ßÙßÇÂþ»­, this could be in a staff network OR community group/charity.
  • Nominees create an inclusive and compassionate environment where they value diversity.
  • The impact of their work is clear to see, having created or supported initiatives which drive equality, diversity, and inclusion forward so no one is left behind.
  • We’re looking for those who go above and beyond, outside of their usual roles.

This award aims to recognise both our frontline and back-office colleagues.

  • This award recognises individuals who demonstrate clear commitment and care for their customers, ensuring their needs are met and they have access to the right support.
  • Nominees have not only thought about how to improve things but have also helped others to make changes, exceed expectations when assisting other staff members/residents and display initiative and resourcefulness when troubleshooting problems and/or complaints.
  • They have displayed leadership qualities to influence others' behaviour for the benefit of communities.
  • Those nominated in this category have created a welcoming environment in the workplace for their team and other staff, consistently displaying a positive attitude.

In this category, colleagues are invited to nominate those earlier in their career (aged 29 or under).

  • Nominees should demonstrate ßÙßÇÂþ»­’s behaviours (ambitious, inclusive, collaborative and dynamic), show exceptional ability and are passionate about our purpose.
  • The nominees in this category all demonstrate dedication and commitment to the objectives of SCC, positively contributing to the organisation’s impact on communities.
  • They should demonstrate consistent commitment to their own personal and professional development, including being open to opportunities with the aim of progressing their career and improving their skills.

  • The individuals nominated for this award have helped make ßÙßÇÂþ»­ a better place.
  • They have shown they can work with compassion and teamwork in their current role OR in a volunteering capacity, coming up with creative and effective ways to help improve their community and make people's lives better.
  • Nominees must also demonstrate how they influence, motivate and inspire others.
  • Our nominees are individuals that work or volunteer in the community, making a real difference to those they meet and interact with.

  • This award recognises teams that have transformed service areas, by being ambitious and dynamic in their approach to delivering better outcomes, including positive changes and improvements.
  • This category looks at how the work of innovative teams have made a real difference to residents by providing better, outcome-focused services or projects.
  • Those nominated will show effective use of data and advanced, purpose-built technology to drive change and improvement to a service or a specific issue.
  • The nominees all see problems as challenges which can be overcome, and they have the determination and enthusiasm to make an idea or change happen.

  • This award recognises individuals who strive to improve their environment and/ or their community no matter where they live or work in ßÙßÇÂþ»­.
  • This award is only open to non SCC employees – they could be residents of ßÙßÇÂþ»­, or work in a local business, for example.
  • Nominees have demonstrated a significant contribution to either their organisation OR community OR show their commitment to environmental sustainability or some other way of improving their local community.
  • They might work behind the scenes, and their work may often be overlooked, but without their input and commitment, this work, programme or initiative would not have happened.

  • Individuals nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award have been a ßÙßÇÂþ»­ employee for 10 years or more
  • This award seeks to recognise individuals who are role models amongst their peers
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the organisation or to the lives of the residents of ßÙßÇÂþ»­
  • They have shown outstanding leadership characteristics throughout their career, inspiring and developing others to achieve similar success

  • Those nominated in this category demonstrate a combination of qualities. They are hardworking, determined, people-focused, and results driven.
  • The nominees are compassionate, collaborative, and care about our residents.
  • They exhibit openness and honesty, value teamwork, respect others, and most importantly, they ensure No One Is Left Behind.
  • The nominees will have made a real impact on residents or colleagues and have delivered a stand-out achievement.

  • Personally judged by the Chief Executive, this award recognises individuals or teams who have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to their roles.
  • Nominees in this category embody in all of their work, consistently demonstrating our organisation’s values and behaviours (being ambitious, inclusive, collaborative and dynamic) in their interactions with colleagues, partners, and/or residents.
  • This award seeks to recognise members of staff that are helping to create the culture and type of organisation we aspire to. They show dedication to their colleagues' wellbeing and their own career growth.
  • They are steadfast in their commitment to our guiding mission, No One Left Behind and are a role model to those around them.
