Bus passes, discounts and offers - under 16's

Free bus pass for disabled children

Children aged 5 and over who live in ßÙßÇÂþ»­ and have a disability may qualify for a free bus pass for disabled people.

Transport for London: 11 to 15 Zip Oyster photocard

Children aged 11 to 15 can travel for free on Transport for London (TfL) buses. Routes that cross into ßÙßÇÂþ»­ include:

K3, S1, 116, 117, 166, 203, 216, 235, 290, 293, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 411, 418, 434, 464, 465, 466, 467 and 470.

Children must carry an . If they don’t have one, they will be charged the adult fare.

Travel support for further education

If your child is in further education, they may be able to get help with travel costs. Several local providers offer discounted travel.

ßÙßÇÂþ»­ LINK card

If you are aged 20 and under and travel by bus, you can apply for the ßÙßÇÂþ»­ LINK bus card.

It gives you 50% off single and return tickets for any journey that starts or ends in ßÙßÇÂþ»­.

Stagecoach student tickets

Students can save up to 40% on bus travel with Stagecoach. They have daily, termly and annual ticket options.

Metrobus student discount

Full time students aged 16 and over can get 25% off adult fares on Metrovoyager, Crawley Metrorider and Horsham Metrorider tickets.

To get the discount, register for a free Student key smartcard at Crawley or Redhill Bus Station. You can top up the card at Metrobus travel shops.

Godalming College bus services

Godalming College offers subsidised bus services for £1,250 per academic year. Routes include:

  • Farnham via Frensham, Churt, Hindhead and Haslemere
  • Liphook via Rake, Liss, Bordon, Headley and Grayshott

Travel by train

16 to 17 Saver railcard

If you're aged 16 or 17 and travel by train, you can apply for a .

It gives you 50% off single, return and season tickets.

This scheme is run by National Rail, not ßÙßÇÂþ»­.

The railcard:

  • gives 50% off standard anytime, off-peak, PlusBus, advance and season tickets
  • works on South Western Railway, Southern, Great Western Railway and most National Rail services (not ScotRail or Caledonian Sleeper)
  • costs £30 and lasts for 1 year or until your 18th birthday

You can buy a season ticket before you turn 18 that lasts up to 4 months after your birthday. For example, if you turn 18 in February, you can buy a ticket that lasts until June.
