Want to set up an early years and childcare service in ßÙßÇÂþ»­? Join our Start-up pathway.

We’ll give you practical advice and support. You’ll learn what you need to do - from making sure your premises are suitable, to meeting Ofsted requirements.

We’ll guide you through funding options and show you how to offer funded early education places.


What is the Start-up pathway?

The Start-up pathway gives new early years providers extra support.

Who can join

  • childminders
  • preschools
  • day nurseries
  • school-based nurseries

You’ll work with our early years team to cover the basics of starting an early years business.

What we’ll advise you on

  • market research and ßÙßÇÂþ»­’s childcare sufficiency assessment (CSA)
  • suitability of premises
  • business and marketing
  • setting fees and funding policies
  • meeting statutory requirements and Ofsted regulations
  • offering funded entitlements

What you'll get

You’ll also get documents and webinars on:

  • funded early years entitlements and supplements
  • the early years census
  • grant funding

Once you set up, you can advertise your childcare vacancies on Childcare Finder.
