Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Mayfield Avenue, New Haw

Due to carriageway investigation works by ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Highways, Mayfield Avenue, New Haw will be closed from Monday 4 August for approximately 3 days (working hours 8am - 4pm).

As a result the Carlone 592 service will be on diversion via Heathervale Road, and bus stops on Mayfield Avenue and Parkside (near the junction with Mayfield Avenue) will not be served.

Penton Road, Staines-upon-Thames

Due to carriageway improvement works by ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Highways, Penton Road, Staines-upon-Thames will be closed on Monday 11 August for 1 day only. As a result the Reptons 570 service will be on diversion, and service will not serve Penton Road.

Passengers are advised to either use the bus top on Laleham Road named "Park Avenue", or wait on Wheatsheaf Lane by the junction with Garrick Close - the Reptons 570 service will continue to serve Laleham Road and Wheatsheaf Lane (up until the junction with Garrick Close) as normal.

Burrows Lane, Gomshall

Due to emergency works by Thames Water, Burrows Lane, Gomshall is currently closed until approximately Monday 4 August.

As a result the Compass 25 service is on diversion between Shere and Burrows Cross via Sandy Lane and Hook Lane. Bus stops between Shere and Gomshall, and between Gomshall and Burrows Cross cannot be served whilst this diversion remains in place.

A3100 Portsmouth Road, Guildford

Due to emergency works by SGN to deal with a gas leak, the A3100 Portsmouth Road, Guildford is currently closed between the junctions with Chestnut Avenue and The Ridges (near the Artington Park & Ride). Works are currently expected to remain in place until approximately Tuesday 5 August, but this may change. Should we hear of any further developments this entry will be updated.

As a result the Compass 42 and Stagecoach 71 and 72 services are on diversion, using the A248 Broadford Road and A281 Shalford Road between Peaslake and Guildford town centre. Please note that the Stagecoach 71 and 72 services will still be able to serve the Artington Park & Ride (turning around inside the grounds) but the Compass 42 service will not.

Court Lodge Road, Horley

As of Wednesday 30 July, due to badly parked cars blocking the road, the Metrobus 100 service has had to temporarily pull out of serving Court Lodge Road, Horley. Measures to prevent careless motorists parking in a way that blocks the road are being investigated, and the service will be returned to normal line of route as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the following bus stops cannot be served by the Metrobus 100 service: Court Lodge Shops, Rutherwick Close, Gower Road, Horley Leisure Centre, Court Lodge Road, Vicarage Road. Buses will operate between Horley Row and Victoria Road via Vicarage Road for the duration of this diversion.

Littleton Road, Ashford

From Monday 4 August, Littleton Road in Ashford will be closed for 7 days between the hours of 7am to 7pm for gas works.

Reptons service 574 will be able to serve the outward journey as normal, and for the return journey it will divert via Staines Road West and Ashford Road to rejoin the line of route on Charlton Road.

Downside Common Road, Cobham

From Wednesday 30 July for approximately 8 days, Downside Common Road in Cobham will be closed between the hours of 9.30am to 3pm.

Reptons service 513 will  not be able to serve Downside Middleton Road or any stops on Downside Bridge Road and will start at the Oakdene Road bus stop by Cobham Waitrose.

Chatterbus servcies C1 and C3 will be unable to go to Downside during the times the road is closed although the C1 should be able to reach Downside outside these times.

Madeira Road, West Byfleet

From 28 July, Madeira Road in West Byfleet will be closed between West Byfleet Health Centre and Station Approach  for kerb and drainage works. The works are taking place between 8am and 5pm including weekends and are expected to last for 12 days.

Falcon services 436 and 456 will divert via Sheerwater Road, Woking Road and Station Approach in both directions. They will not be able to serve stops at Regency Drive and the Health Centre

Kings Road, Shalford

From Wednesday 23 July, Kings Road in Shalford is closed due to gas works until 31 August.

Compass service 32 will divert through Bramley and Wonersh and will rejoin the route at the junction of New Road and Christmas Hill. It will not be able to serve bus stops on Kings Road or Christmas Hill.

Sandcross Lane, Reigate

From 21 July, Sandcross Lane in Reigate has been closed due to emergency gas works. The works are expected to last until 28 July.

Metrobus services 422 and 424 will operate directly along Dovers Green Road and bus stops along Castle Drive, Hitchings Way, Sandcross Lane and Prices Lane are not being served.

Reigate Hill, Reigate

Due to works by SGN, Reigate Hill, Reigate (between the junctions of Raglan Road and Holmsdale Road) will be closed southbound-only from Monday 21 July until approximately Sunday 17 August.

As a result the Metrobus 420 and 460 services will be on diversion via Raglan Road, Croydon Road and Rushworth Road, and the following southbound bus stops on Reigate Hill will not be served: Brokes Road, Priory Gate Mews and Reigate Railway Station (Stop B).

Guildford Road, Normandy

From Monday 21 July, Guildford Road in Normandy will be closed between the junction of Bailes Lane and Glaziers Lane until 1 September due to gas works.

Stagecoach service 20 will divert via the A324 Pirbright Road and Cobbetts Hill Road and will not be able to serve bus stops along the Guildford Road between these points.

Gorsewood Road, Woking

From Monday 21 July, Gorsewood Road in Woking is closed for 19 days between the hours of 8am and 6pm due to resurfacing works.

Falcon service 28 will divert via Hermitage Road and bus stops at Sutton Avenue, Hermitage Estate shops, Limewood Close and Brackenwood Road will not be served.

A3 Portsmouth road closures

National Highways are carrying out major safety improvement works to the A3 Wisley Interchange (M25 Junction 10). As a result there will be a series of weekend road closures at this location.

When closures are in place, the Falcon 715 service may only operate between Kingston and Cobham. The White Bus 462/463 service may not operate between Send Marsh Road and Ockham Roundabout, with bus stops in Ripley not being served.

Update: The A3 will be closed in both directions between the M25 (Junction 10) and the junction with the A247 at Send, from 9pm on Friday 1 August until 6am on Monday 4 August. During this time there will be no Falcon 714/715 service beyond Cobham towards Guildford, with the service only operating between Cobham and Kingston-upon-Thames.

As the nature of the closures may change as works progress, and different diversions may be necessary, we would advise passengers wishing to travel on these services to check the and websites for further updates before travelling.

Woodbridge Road, Guildford

From 18 July, Woodbridge Road in Guildford is closed at the junction of Ladymead due to major resurfacing works. The closure is in place between the hours of 8pm to 6am for 11 nights excluding weekends.

Stagecoach service 2 will divert from Guildford Friary bus station along The Chase, onto the A3 and off at Dennis Roundabout to resume normal line of route. It will do the same in reverse. All stops on Woodbridge Road and Woodbridge Meadows will not be served while the road is closed.

Stagecoach service 20 will divert from Guildford Friary bus station to Walnut Tree Close and Woodbridge Meadows and will resume the normal route at the Dennis Roundabout. From Aldershot the bus will divert from the Dennis Roundabout, to the Cathedral Roundabout and via the Chase to Guildford Friary Bus Station. All stops on Woodbridge Road will not be served.

Walton Road, Woking

Due to the discovery of a sinkhole during road resurfacing works, Walton Road, Woking has been closed from Friday 27 June. As a result the Cardinal 856, Falcon 436 and 456, and White Bus 462 services will be on diversion, and will not be able to serve the following bus stops: "North Road" and "Boundary Road" on Walton Road, and "Board School Road" on Chertsey Road.

The repair works are currently expected to be completed, and the road fully re-opened, by approximately Friday 8 August.

A320 Guildford Road, Chertsey

As part of the A320 North of Woking Improvements Scheme there are road works taking place on the A320 Guildford Road that will affect bus services. There will be a series of evening and weekend closures by St Peter's Hospital and this page will be updated when further works are announced.

While the road is closed, White Bus service 446 and Falcon service 461 will be diverting via Foxhill Road, Stonehill Road and Holloway Hill and will be using the hospital entrance on Holloway Hill to serve the St Peter's Hospital bus stop. The buses will do the same in reverse.

Union Road, Farnham

From Friday 30 May, as part of the Farnham town centre improvement works, there is a lane closure on Union Road which means the bus stop on Union Road cannot be served. This lane closure is expected to be in place until August. The nearest alternative bus stops are:

  • Stagecoach 4/5 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 65 - West Street
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Aldershot - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Weydon School - South Street
  • Stagecoach 18/19 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 46 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 404 - The Borough

High Street, Godstone

Due to a major sinkhole appearing in the carriageway, High Street, Godstone (between the junctions with A25 Oxted Road and Salisbury Road) has been closed from 18 February until further notice. Reports indicate the road will most likely remain closed for several months.

As a result of this closure the Metrobus 400, 409 and 410 services are on diversion and cannot use Godstone High Street. Passengers are advised to catch their bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) instead. In addition the 410 service will also be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on the A25 Oxted Road.

With regards to school services, the Metrobus 612 service for Oxted School will also be on diversion, and will be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers for this service should either catch the bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) or can alternatively catch the Metrobus 611 service to Oxted School from the "Crowhurst Mead" and "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers should bear in mind that this service operates slightly earlier than the Metrobus 612 service, arriving at the "Crowhurst Mead" bus stop at 07:59, to arrive at Oxted School for 08:14.

Portsmouth Road, Burntcommon

From Saturday 5 October contractors will be carrying out roadway improvements, including the installation of a new roundabout on Portsmouth Road. These works are expected to last until the end of July 2025.

The bus stops on Portsmouth Road, known as "Burnt Common Lane" will be suspended for the duration of the works. There is no safe location for a temporary stop.

Metrobus service 430 and 435

From 29 October 2022, Metrobus services 430 and 435 will not serve Royal Earlswood Park, Prince's Road and Earlsbrook Road due to operational issues until further notice. Bus stops along Woodlands Road will still be served as normal.
