Our Year 7 safety sessions recognise the increasing freedoms and independence that children this age are starting to experience.
Year 7 fire safety
This session focuses on how to stay safe at home.
Children will learn:
- To identify common fire hazards in the home, particularly within bedrooms and how these fires can be prevented.
- To commit to the safe charging of electronic devices.
- Be able to discuss what to do in the event of a fire at home.
- The steps of a fire action plan and how to Get Out, Stay Out and Call 999.
Year 7 fire safety sessions run during the Autumn term and up to the February half-term.
Year 7 water safety
This session focuses on how to stay safe around ßÙßÇÂþ»'s many rivers, canals, reservoirs, and lakes. This includes reducing the risk of accidents in or around water, and will teach children vital survival skills that they can use should they find themselves or a friend in trouble in the water.
Children will:
- Learn how to identify the unseen dangers of water.
- Discuss making better choices.
- Learn about cold water shock and how to overcome it.
- Commit to following the Water Safety Code.
Year 7 water safety sessions run from February half-term until the end of the Summer term.
