Description
At Christians Against Poverty (CAP UK), we won’t sit back and let poverty destroy lives. We’re a UK-wide charity that equips local churches with the tools and expertise to support people in their communities who are facing unmanageable debt and other financial challenges.
Free debt counselling:
Working in partnership with several other local churches, Grace Church is home to the Christians Against Poverty Guildford Debt Centre. Helen is the Debt Centre Manager and works with Laura, our Debt Coach, offering home visits to clients.
Free Job Club, Life Skills and Money Management Courses:
CAP Guildford also offers in-person support, based at other town-centre churches, to help clients find employment, make their money go further and enhance life skills.
Nick is the Job Club Manager, supported by Alan, Bethan, Graham and Jo, based at Guildford Baptist Church Millmead. Job Club is a friendly place where clients get practical help and gain tools needed to find work, along with others in similar circumstances. For further information, contact Nick at nickwalden@capjobclubs.org.
Ann manages the Life Skills course and also the Money course. The Life Skills course covers making your money go further, tips on reducing energy costs, cooking on a limited budget whilst eating healthily and of course budgeting. The Money course focuses on managing the money you have to meet all your bills, saving for irregular payments, use of credit and planning for the future all through budgeting. For further information, contact Ann at annmather@caplifeskills.org.
All CAP’s services are free, face-to-face and for everyone – of any faith or none. If you are struggling to manage your debts, no matter how large or small – or know of someone else who is – CAP can help. Our friendly new enquiries team is your first port of call, would love to listen to you and can arrange for Helen or Laura from the Guildford CAP Centre to visit you at your home.
